Projectors

Rockwell Collins offers a broad range of optical configurations and projector options to satisfy all levels of certification, up to the most demanding Level D requirements.

As new projector technologies have emerged, we have begun supporting a broad range of suppliers and developing projector-independent system enablers to make it easier to select the most appropriate devices for your application. The range includes CRT, LCD, DLP and LCOS projectors from industry-leading manufacturers, as well as Rockwell Collins' own Zorro® series, which can be specified according to your specific requirements.

Zorro®

The Zorro® projector range has been developed to meet the demands of the commercial airline market and military training, including mission rehearsal using night vision enhancement devices. It offers unprecedented black levels, contrast and dynamic range, essential for full-capability simulation training.

Combining the essential attributes of performance, reliability and maintainability this fixed-matrix projector range is inherently stable and highly flexible in its optimization, and achieves contrast and dynamic range only previously available from CRT projectors.

Zorro® employs a Rockwell Collins-patented RGBK four-panel projection engine architecture. The main benefit of this technology is that the sequential contrast (full-screen white:black contrast) is far higher, by orders of magnitude than any other light-valve based projector. The panels used are latest generation Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) devices as used in high-performance cinema markets.

2015HC

With its stable technology platform and low maintenance overhead, the 2015HC QXGA variant can be used in most Rockwell Collins products, including Panorama (and Lightning), Griffin, containerized simulation and DPM®.

The 2015HC offers unprecedented contrast, dynamic range and black levels essential for full-capability simulation training. It is capable of achieving a typical contrast ratio of 500,000:1, and its unmatched dynamic range offers excellent lightpoint performance, is compatible with NVGs and allows all-electronic blending. Other features include highly accurate color processing, grayscale tracking, automatic corrections and diagnostics, and motion blur capabilities.

The Zorro® range is also available in a DPM variant. DPM is the perfect technology for WAC-window systems, new or upgrade, and can meet demanding requirements for FAA certification.
